Teleparty Interface Redesign
Netflix announced Teleparty (formerly known as Netflix Party) in March 2020. Teleparty is a Google Chrome Extension that allows Netflix users to invite other Netflix users into viewing rooms — or parties. It is only available for Laptop and Desktop browsers through Google Chrome.
The Objective
Sprint Week: Sprints usually last up to two weeks. However, our sprint lasted four weeks. Each week represented a day in the sprint (Monday = Week One, Tuesday = Week 2, etc.). My team and went through ideation sessions before discovering our problem. During the first week, we discussed and discovered our problem, long term goals, and How Might We questions.
Problem: Generation Z and Millennial subscribers need Netflix to improve the live watch party interface to provide more accessibility to a wider audience because the platform is currently only available to users on a Google Chrome extension through laptops and desktops.
Long Term Goal: Increase Netflix viewership and subscriptions by improving the Live Watch Party Interface and developing a more interactive interface.
Agenda

We completed lighting demos, sketches, storyboards, prototypes, and interviews with experts.
We used the following tools to redesign Netflix Party:
- Mural
- Adobe XD
- Google Sheets
- Sprint by Jake Knapp, John Zeratsky, and Braden Kowitz
Let’s Take It From The Top

“How Might We?” Questions
We organized our initial “How Might We” and sprint questions into categories. We voted on the most important questions and categories in two separate rounds.

Map N’ Target
We created a low-fidelity user journey map. It is two-fold with the hosts and guests journeys. We integrated our How Might We questions onto our map.
The Middle Ground
My team and I created a series of sketches including lighting demos, solution sketches, and art museums. Art Museums are final drafts of solution sketches. Solution sketches are visual representations of solutions to our “problem.” My team members and I voted on the best features from each sketch, then we created our storyboard.

The Conclusion

We created the final prototype with Adobe XD. The 11-slide prototype has features from Netflix and original features from my team. I designed the prototype to show the creating and joining a party process.
