Emerging Media courses range from front-end web development, web design, user experience research, digital customer experience design, and mobile and web application development. Throughout New Media Production, I learned basic coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap. I built websites from the bottom-up. I learned to host my websites through my domain name, a web hosting site, and a server. I previously learned to write code through a text editor; however, New Media Production improved my code writing skills for Bootstrap and JavaScript.
New Media Production and New Media Design are the foundation of the entire Emerging Media experience. I advanced from basic HTML coding to high-level JavaScript, PHP, Swift coding. I learned the use of APIs and JSON feeds – which saved my life.
I discovered my love of web and graphic design through Emerging Media. I designed prototypes and wireframes, banner ads, LinkedIn banners. I used color theory, rules of typography, and photography to create web pages.
My capstone group and I, Team CampusX, created a mobile-based marketplace for university students. We spent ten months iterating prototypes, creating personas, conducting in-depth interviews, writing Competitive Advantage Reports, programming back-end functions, creating style guides, and conducting interest surveys.
Throughout my Emerging Media journey, I am most proud of creating CampusX.
