The final step in my Emerging Media journey. My team presented our app, CampusX, to our Emerging Media cohort, faculty, and New Media Institute students.
EM Capstone had four modules:
- Checkpoint 1: Beta Presentation, Final User Testing Plan
- Checkpoint 2: User Testing Report
- Checkpoint 3: Final EMS, Final Project Pitch, Beta Slam Presentation
- Checkpoint 4: Final Website, Medium Journal, Final Style Guide, Poster, Trailer, Emerge Presentation
Checkpoint 1
The Beta Presentation was a 10-15 minute presentation about our problem, our product, competitor analysis, and demo. We also introduced our final User Testing Plan. My group members, Rohit Rammohan and Andy Johnston, wrote the User Testing Plan. The User Testing Plan included personas, audience analysis table, consent forms, user testing scripts, pre and post- surveys, and task tables.
Checkpoint 2
We completed user testing after Checkpoint 1. We had 10 participants ranging from professors, graduate students, and undergraduate students. We wrote 1-4 page visual report with our results (positive and negative findings).

Checkpoint 3
Our team completed the final version of our app. Andy Johnston also re-wrote our final Project Pitch. We also completed our first Beta Slam Presentation. Slam is a showcase of all Emerging Media Capstone projects. The Slam theme was Arcade. My team filmed a funny and quirky Slam presentation with an 80s/Arcade theme. We showcased our app on Slam Presentation.
Checkpoint 4
I updated our website (created through Bootstrap). Andy updated our Medium journey article. I also updated our Style Guide. I re-created the Style Guide with Adobe XD. I got the inspiration from Pinterest. I also edited the Trailer with Adobe Stock Images, Canva, and Adobe Premiere. I also did the V.O. for the video. Andy created our poster through Canva. Rohit finished the final edits of the app then we created the Beta Emerge presentation. Emerge is the final showcase of EM Capstone for Emerging Media Students.
